morry & alisa’s engagement

Crazy weekend! Although our beautiful studio in the quaint little Streetsville has been open for over a year now, we’ve never had an offical “Open House” So, last Friday it finally happened! It was an elegant evening with wine, cheese and a display of our favourite 20 images from 2008, gallery style. I think it will become a tradition. Too fun not to do it again!  Thanks to everyone who popped in! Pictures to come…

Saturday and Sunday I had the privilege of photographing two absolutely beautiful weddings, Clinton & Evelyn and also Morry & Alisa! I can’t wait to post the photos. Here are some shots from Morry and Alisa’s engagement earlier last month! Enjoy!

Totally having a blast with engagement photos these days. From alleyways to blossom trees, to photos by the water, it’s all been great because I just love the couples that I am working with! – Bill and Julia are one of them!  Bright colours, the sunset, lots of laughs and cool people – my favourite ingredients… How can you go wrong? Can’t wait to photograph their wedding at the Jamie Kennedy this July.

The Keezer’s! Newborn and Family Session in the studio

collage

Well the days have been filled with newborn shoots, engagement sessions and some corporate events, but mainly wedding consultations! I still have a few dates open for 2009 and 2010 is booking up fast! I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll ever be a faithful blogger. The days just slip through my hands…  Sorry it’s been a while.

This shoot was fun! Little Grace who I photographed last year is so big now and full of personality. It was interesting to see her react to her new sister – Claire. At one point she just wanted to eat her feet. We did these newborn photos last week when Claire was 7 days old. This is really the ideal time for newborn photos. The babies sleep lots and are more inclined to curl up and bundle in those cute positions.  It’s in the second week that acne usually occurs, so catching them between 4-7 days is ideal. Even though eighty percent of the newborn and family sessions that I do are on location and in peoples homes, I’m really loving the in-studio sessions. I love making people feel relaxed and at home. There was one point when we were waiting for Faith to fall asleep, so we just drank tea and crackers. I love my job.

mark + kate

I loved photographing this wedding. Why? Because the bride and groom were totally into each other and undistracted by everything else. Sounds obvious, but often couples can be more into the photography and minor details than the actual celebration and each other. The day was splendidly perfect – warm sunshine with a breeze. The colours were fantastic! I really love Kate’s choice of green as an accent. My favourite were the green and blue peacock feathers in the flowers! We took photos before the ceremony (always a good way to go…) and Mark and Kate decided to see each other for the first time at the Elgin Theatre where things first began…

Mark and Kate first met working with the Toronto Film Festival seasonally. They would see each other every year, exchange glances, and then have to wait until the next year to see each other again. In 2006 they finally saw a little more of each other and things turned into a full-fledged crush. They finally began a relationship when Kate moved back to Toronto from LA in 2007. Mark is an acclaimed film writer and genius who loves soccer. Kate heads up the Editorial department at the Toronto International Film Festival and is also working towards finishing her PhD in Film Studies, with an eye to a university professorship in the future. (She has also recently started playing soccer too).

Both of them will leave for Japan at the end of the month for their honeymoon! One of the reasons they chose Japan was that Kate was asked to present a paper at the Society for Cinema and Media Studies Conference! Unfortunately while they are there they will miss the Yorkton Film Festival where Mark’s Film “US Chickens” was nominated for best drama. Mark was also nominated for best director! (Golden Sheaf Awards) Stay tuned for his other film ”Perennial,” which will be airing on the CBC sometime this year (date TBD). Visit Mark’s website for more information Arkitekt Films

What fun it was to be there with you both at your wonderful celebration! I loved everything. You were both such a pleasure to work with! All the best on your exciting new adventure together! xoxo Nikki

Lynne - Nikki
Love your work!
I am so excited to see the rest of the photos.
You and your associate were professional AND fun and a joy to have as part of this special day.
Thank you so much.

Adele Wechsler - You did an outstanding job of capturing the chemistry and magical moment that was obviously present on that day.
I was delighted to be able to play a role and contribute to making Kates day special. She looked unique and stunning and although the dress looks beautiful it was definately all about kate!I look forward to seeing more pics and would love to post one on our website if that would be possible.I look forward to seeing pics of Lynne, Kates mom whose dress we also made.
Well done! Beautiful pics. We will be sure to recommend your work.
